Are walks a stressful and frustrating activity for you and your dog? Reactivity can turn what should be an enjoyable time into an anxiety-inducing nightmare. If your dog barks, lunges, and generally throws a tantrum when he sees another dog on-leash, this class is for you. Using a variety of force-free techniques, we will help you change your dog's association with the trigger of another dog and start teaching appropriate behaviors instead. You'll also learn how to prevent reactive episodes as well as how to deal with them constructively if they do happen.
Class is six weeks long and meets for an hour each week. We will be skipping the nights of July 11th and 18th. Limited to five students. Please note, the first night is orientation with no dogs - people only! No previous training is required, but it is helpful if your dog knows basic behaviors such as sit, down, and polite leash walking when no dogs are around. Dogs should not be fearful of or reactive to people. If your dog has a history of injuring another dog, please let us know in advance. The use of choke collars, pinch collars, e-collars, and flexi leads is prohibited in this class - if you are currently using one of these tools and need help determining what to use in class instead, please contact the instructor, Ursa Acree.
